Today I got the great news I’m awarded as MVP on Microsoft Dynamics AX! Thank you, Microsoft for this recognition! I like to congratulate all renewed and new MVP’s worldwide. At Kaya Consulting we now have two team members recognized as MVP on Microsoft Dynamics AX.
When it comes to testing of appropriate security in Microsoft Dynamics AX, you want to ensure persons will get enough permissions for doing their daily jobs in AX. You don’t want to give too much functionality, namely because of risks. When the user has too less functionality, the normal daily job cannot be executed correctly.
Some customers and community people have sometimes the question how to create a specific role in AX2012 where people have just “read only” rights. In the past I used a specific trick to establish such a role in just 10 minutes. (This besides finetuning. see details below).
Within this post I will inform you about an update for AX2012. Microsoft recently released an updated version of the Task recorder as a hotfix. This is done with Knowledge Base article 2863182. There are two updates available: One for AX2012 and one for AX2012R2.
Today Microsoft released a new cumulative update for Microsoft Dynamics AX2012 R2, named Cumulative Update 6 (KB2850972). The version number of this release is 6.2.1000.1437.
During preparation of a presentation about the new Data Import/Export Framework I came across an issue on the Customer entity when using AX as source data format. When the staging data is filled from the target some address fields (most of them) are filled in the wrong fields of the staging table.
Data Import/Export Framework replaces Data Migration Framework (beta). Some exiting new features are added within this release. It is now possible to have AX as the datasource. Also new is the possibility to export data. I also noticed that it is possible to have a table or composite entity as entity type within the target entities.
